Some of the language is not really profane but it’s certainly crude. Some of the lines there and at other places made me laugh right out loud. Otherwise, it’s a pretty humorous film in segments, especially with dialog between the young kid and his dad. What happens to her, unfairly, near the end is not pleasant. She is almost beyond description, looks-wise. Monica Bellucci is indeed a feast for any male’s eyes. This is a strange film at times but beautifully filmed and almost always interesting. The star is a horny 13-year-old who fantasizes about a relationship with this grown woman, “Malena,” a sexy lady who gets all the mens’ attention in the town, and all the wrath of the jealous town women. Reviews: A gorgeous, voluptuous woman is the object of attention in this World War II period piece, set in an Italian town. Will Renato learn courage from Malèna and stand up for her? He sees her loneliness, then grief when Nino is reported dead, the effects of slander on her relationship with her father, her poverty and search for work, and final humiliations.
During the next few years, as Renato grows toward manhood, he watches Malèna suffer and prove her mettle. He promptly goes off to war, leaving her to the lustful eyes of the men and the sharp tongues of the women. She is a beautiful, silent outsider who’s moved to this Sicilian town to be with her husband, Nino. On the day in 1940 that Italy enters the war, two things happen to the 12-year-old Renato: he gets his first bike, and he gets his first look at Malèna.
